General

  • The Washington Commanders fell to the Atlanta Falcons 34-27 on Sunday afternoon.
  • Washington recorded 45-plus yard runs in consecutive games for the first time since November 21 and November 28, 1954 per the Elias Sports Bureau.

Offense

  • QB Marcus Mariota completed 16 of 27 passes for 156 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for 20 yards.
  • Mariota connected with WR Deebo Samuel on a 24-yard touchdown pass. It was his 100th career touchdown pass. He is one of 21 active quarterbacks to reach 100 career touchdown passes.
  • Mariota has thrown for two-plus touchdowns in 33 career games.
  • WR Luke McCaffrey caught two passes for 21 yards and a touchdown. He also returned six kickoff returns for 199 yards including a career-long 58-yard return.
  • McCaffrey caught a five-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. He has recorded a touchdown pass in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.
  • RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. led the team with 59 rushing yards.
  • Rodriguez Jr.'s first quarter 48-yard carry was the longest of his career.
  • WR Deebo Samuel Sr. led the team with 72 receiving yards. Samuel also added a touchdown reception.
  • WR Tay Martin recorded one catch for 14 yards. It was his second career reception.

Defense

  • LB Frankie Luvu recorded eight tackles, one sack, one quarterback hit and one tackle for loss.
  • Luvu's second quarter sack was his first of the season.
  • DT Daron Payne totaled three tackles, one tackle for loss and one forced fumble.
  • Payne forced his seventh career forced fumble in the first quarter. It was his first forced fumble since Week 7 of the 2023 season.
  • Payne passed LB LaVar Arrington for 13th on the all-time tackles list in franchise history (399).
  • Payne has passed DT Jonathan Allen for second on the all-time tackles for loss list in franchise history (61).
  • CB Mike Sainristil had six total tackles. He also recorded his first interception of the season as well as one pass defensed.
  • Sainristil's 23-yard interception return is the longest by a Washington defender in a regular season game since S Quan Martin's 29-yard interception return against Atlanta in Week 17 of the 2024 season.
  • LB Bobby Wagner led the team with 10 total tackles and added one tackle for loss.

Special Teams

  • K Matt Gay made four field goals and one extra point attempt.
  • Gay has made a 50+ yard field goal in three straight games for the first time since Weeks 14-16 of the 2022 season.
  • This is the fifth time in Gay's career that he has made four or more field goals in a single game.
  • It is the first time that Gay has connected on 100 percent of his field goals (min. 4 attempts) since Week 13 of the 2023 season.
  • This is the 23rd game of Gay's career in which he has made three-plus field goals. This ranks T-14th among active kickers.
  • P Tress Way appeared in his 183rd career game. He is now in sole possession of No. 9 all-time in franchise history in games played.
