The Washington Commanders are looking to get to 3-1 with a road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Check out this blog throughout the afternoon for stats, updates and more.
1:09 p.m.
The Falcons open the game with a 38-yard field goal. Good job by the Commanders to hold them, but Bijan Robinson was rolling with 19 yards on that drive. Robinson is going to have his moments, but they'll need to bottle that up

1:16 p.m.
Tough opening drive for the Commanders. Deebo Samuel was tackled for a loss on the first plays, while Marcus Mariota was sacked on the second. There aren't many plays to convert a third-and-16.
1:27 p.m.
Touchdown Atlanta. Penix connects with Drake London to end the 14-play, 73-yard drive. It's 10-0 Falcons
1:28 p.m.
The Falcons have been in control for the first quarter so far. They have run 22 plays compared to just three for the Commanders, who also have -6 yards on the day.
1:34 p.m.
Well, how about that to end the first quarter. Atlanta native Chris Rodriguez just ripped off a 48-yard run and put the Commanders deep in Atlanta territory. Hopefully that will provide a much-needed spark.
1:40 p.m.
Luke McCaffrey scores his second touchdown this season and pulls the Commanders within three points of tying the lead. Samuel got a clutch catch on fourth down to get them in position. Now it's time for the Commanders to start putting some more pressure on Penix.
1:52 p.m.
Another touchdown drive by the Falcons. This time, it's Bijan Robinson who got in on the 14-yard score. Prior to that, however, it was London who opened things up for the Falcons with a 43-yard catch. The Commanders are dealing with several injuries that make defending all the Falcons' playmakers a tough task, but that have to find an answer soon.
1:57 p.m.
Massive return by McCaffrey. That's a 58-yard return! Washington's special teams unit continues to excel.
2:04 p.m.
Matt Gay adds three points on the 43-yard field goal. The Commanders were moving the ball until the intentional grounding call on Mariota. It's 17-10 Falcons.
2:13 p.m.
Big-time stop on third and short by Eddie Goldman. We're at the two-minute warning in the first half with the Falcons on the Commanders' 45-yard line. We'll see if they go for it here.
2:26 p.m.
That's the end of the first half in Atlanta with the Falcons leading 17-10. There are some things to work out for both sides of the ball. The Commanders need to stay consistent on offense, while the defense must find answers for all the Falcons' playmakers. Despite all that, the Commanders are in a good spot down a touchdown since they get the ball to start the third quarter.
2:52 p.m.
Matt Gay chipped away at the Falcons' lead with a 52-yard field goal. The Commanders continue to stay in the game, but there have been some slip-ups that stalled their momentum. They committed back-to-back 10-yard penalties and had a false start from Zach Ertz that turned a third and short into a third and long. They must find a way to shore up these issues in order to get a win.
2:59 p.m.
The Falcons answered that field goal with another touchdown. This time, it was Kyle Pitts from seven yards out. The Falcons got there with a 69-yard catch-and-run by Robinson, who was tripped up by Jeremy Reaves. It's 24-13 Falcons now, and while there is still time to mount a comeback, the Commanders cannot afford many more mistakes.
3:05 p.m.
Another tough drive for the Commanders. Mariota tried airing out a pass to Jalyin Lane in the end zone but was picked off. The Falcons take over the chance at making it a three-score advantage.
3:12 p.m.
A fortuitous moment there by the Commanders. Mike Sainristil grabs the Commanders' first turnover over the season, which the offense turned into three points. It's an eight-point game in Atlanta, and despite the mistakes, the Commanders continue to hang around.
3:19 p.m.
The Falcons are now up by 15 after a run by Tyler Allgeier. After it looked like he was being taken down in the backfield, Allgeier rumbled forward for the 15-yard gain. The Commanders are technically still not out of it, but they need to clean up the mistakes on both sides of the field.
