Inactive: WRs Moss, Patten; Vincent Starts

Wide receivers Santana Moss and David Patten were among the Redskins' inactive players for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys at FedExField. Both Moss and Patten have been slowed by hamstring injuries since the Redskins' last game on Oct. 22 at Indianapolis.

The Redskins carried just three active wide receivers for the game, although tight end Chris Cooley and running back Ladell Betts occasionally lined up outside in pass formation.

Antwaan Randle El started in place of Moss, opposite Brandon Lloyd. James Thrash served as the third wide receiver.

The Redskins obtained both Randle El and Lloyd last offseason, and Sunday's game was a key test of the Redskins' depth at the position.

"Getting Randle El and Brandon means a lot to us," head coach Joe Gibbs said last week. "Obviously having depth at some of those key positions, particularly at receiver, is a big deal. We felt like it hurt us last year. That is why we did what we did in the off season."

Moss, a Pro Bowler last year, was the Redskins' leading receiver with 28 catches for 435 yards and three touchdowns. He also had seven carries on wide receiver reverses for 82 yards.

Meantime, Troy Vincent started at strong safety and saw significant action throughout the game. Adam Archuleta also saw action, as the Redskins coaches periodically employed packages with five defensive backs.

The Redskins' complete list of inactive players was as follows: cornerback Mike Rumph, safety Reed Doughty, offensive lineman Taylor Whitley, defensive linemen Anthony Montgomery and Ryan Boschetti, Patten and Moss.

As expected, Todd Collins served as the backup to Mark Brunell. Jason Campbell was listed as the third quarterback for the game.
