Kimrin Released; Boschetti Signed

The Redskins released kicker Ola Kimrin on Friday and signed rookie defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti from the practice squad to take his place on the 53-man roster.

Kimrin's release came after John Hall showed he was healthy during practices at Redskins Park this week. Hall, who has missed the last five games due to a groin injury, was upgraded to probable on the team's injury report on Friday.

The Redskins had been carrying two kickers on the roster while waiting for Hall to get healthy. With backup defensive tackle Jermaine Haley out for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh, the team signed Boschetti to add depth along the defensive line.

Boschetti is a 6-4, 300-pound undrafted rookie out of UCLA. He has spent most of this season on the Redskins' practice squad. If he gets in Sunday's game, he will be seeing his first NFL action as a pro.

The Redskins signed Kimrin on Oct. 16, flying him back from Sweden in time for a game against the Chicago Bears. In five games, Kimrin was 6-of-9 on field goal attempts and converted all six PATs.

"I think Ola has done an admirable job for us," Gibbs said recently. "He's very confident and cool, and he has a very strong leg. Maybe this [stint with the Redskins] can be a great break for him."
