Moss Is Day to Day; Fauria Has Ankle Injury

Wide receiver Santana Moss tested his injured hamstring for team officials at Redskins Park on Monday, but his status remains day to day.

Moss's status for next Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles will be determined on Wednesday afternoon, when the Redskins release their weekly injury report.

Moss sat out Sunday's game 22-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys to rest his hamstring injury.

"I think it is going to depend on how he feels this week," head coach Joe Gibbs said on Monday. "[Team officials] felt like he had a good workout [on Monday]. What we will do is just work it. You can't rush that back.

"I am going to hope he is ready for this week, but it will be up to him and our medical team."

Without Moss and wide receiver David Patten, who was also sidelined with a hamstring injury, the Redskins went into the Dallas game with Antwaan Randle El, Brandon Lloyd and James Thrash available at wide receiver.

Thrash had three catches for 52 yards and Lloyd had two catches for 26 yards. Randle El was held without a catch.

Running back Clinton Portis has also struggled through injuries this season, including a high ankle sprain last week. He emerged from Sunday's game fine, Gibbs said. He saw a heavy workload, rushing 23 times for 84 yards and a 38-yard touchdown run.

"From an injury standpoint, it's been one thing after another for Clinton this year," Gibbs said. "I don't know anyone who wants to play more or is capable of breaking a game open like he did on Sunday. Injuries have definitely set him back and it's hurt us all. My hope is that he gets healthy and goes on down the stretch."

Meantime, backup tight end Christian Fauria suffered an ankle injury on Sunday and Gibbs said it would "be a concern" heading into practice this week.

Fauria suffered the injury during pre-game warm-ups and had his ankle taped up in the locker room. He played the entire game with the injury.

Right tackle Jon Jansen re-aggravated a calf injury that slowed him in practice last week. His status will be monitored through the course of the week, but the injury is not considered serious.

Tight end Chris Cooley sustained a shoulder injury during Sunday's game, but the injury is not considered serious, either.
