Moss: Questionable For Cowboys Game

Wide receiver Santana Moss sat out Wednesday's practice to rest his hamstring injury and he is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys at FedExField.

Moss's hamstring is the team's primary injury concern coming off the bye week. He suffered the injury in the Redskins' 36-22 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 22.

"I think later in the week we'll have a feel for [Moss's status]," head coach Joe Gibbs said. "The best thing to do right now is rest him and make sure he goes through the walk-through work. Right now, we need to try to get him healthy."

Moss, who leads the offense with 28 receptions for 435 yards and three touchdowns, has not missed a game since joining the Redskins in the 2005 offseason.

Moss was not able to participate in either the team's 30-minute walk-through morning practice or two-hour afternoon practice. Coaches and athletic trainers do not want to take the risk of re-aggravating the injury.

"If you can't do certain things walking or even getting out of bed, then it makes no sense to go out there and try to do it running," Moss said on Wednesday. "It's not ready. It's one of those things you have to treat, and you have to wait until it feels good enough to test it."

"I'm just going to go with the flow and say [the injury is] day by day. We'll see how it goes."

If Moss cannot play on Sunday, then Antwaan Randle El, David Patten and James Thrash could see increased action.

Randle El and Patten are also on the team's injury report. Both are listed as probable, Randle El with a heel injury and Patten with a hamstring injury. Patten sat out a portion of practice on Wednesday.

This Sunday could be the first test of the Redskins' attempt to address depth at the wide receiver position last offseason.

"Obviously having depth at wide receiver means a lot to us," Gibbs said. "We felt like it hurt us last year, and that's why we did what we did in the offseason. Getting Randle El and Brandon [Lloyd] means a lot to us."

Running back Clinton Portis participated in practice and is listed as probable on the team's injury report. He has been slowed by a high ankle sprain suffered in the Colts game.

Left tackle Chris Samuels is also listed as probable with a lower leg injury.
