My Cause My Cleats - Colt McCoy

Reading has always been an important part of quarterback Colt McCoy's life. With a librarian for an aunt, he was surrounded by a world of books from a young age, and fell in love with it.

"My favorite book was 'Hank the Cowdog,'" McCoy said about his childhood reading. "I'm from Texas, blew my cover there. But, I read all those books inside and out."

Though he may have moved on from "Hank the Cowdog," McCoy still enjoys reading, and hopes to now instill that passion in the youth. Working with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation' **Redskins Read** program, McCoy and the team help encourage local students to continue to read through lessons, events and prizes for the schools that read the most. With his cleats, McCoy allowed some of the students to create their own designs, some of which will end up on the actual pair.

"Reading is essential, right? What these kids learn at a young age, to read books, gaining knowledge and wisdom I think is so crucial, so important," McCoy said. "These kids have such creative minds, some of the designs I'm seeing right now are awesome. I look forward to seeing what these cleats look like."
