Redskins Sign Two D-Linemen

The Washington Redskins announced June 16 they have signed defensive linemen Demetric Evans and Darrell Wright. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Evans and Wright both recently finished productive seasons in NFL Europe. Both players are young, talented and aggressive defensive linemen that will compete for a spot on the roster during training camp.

Evans, 6-3 and 300 pounds, played in the NFL Europe League with Cologne in 2004 and posted 24 tackles (15 solo), 2.5 sacks and a pass deflection.

Prior to his stint in NFL Europe, he played two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. As a rookie in 2001, Evans played in all 16 games for Dallas and finished with 35 tackles, five quarterback pressures, two passes defensed and a forced fumble. He played in four games in 2002 and registered seven tackles and two quarterback pressures before being released prior to the 2003 campaign. He signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2001 after a standout career at Georgia.

Wright, 6-4 and 285 pounds, spent the 2004 NFLE season with Amsterdam and finished the year with 20 tackles (16 solo) and three sacks. It was his first official action as a pro, as he broke his hand during training camp with the Dallas Cowboys in 2003. He signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2003 after a solid career at Oregon.
