BHM Spotlights - Rashaad Shakir

Rashaad Shakir

 Membership Services Representative

Rashaad Shakir

Time at Commanders: 1 year, 2 months

Describe what you do with the organization. What's your favorite part about what you do?

I service hundreds of season ticket members along with generating new business revenue by selling season tickets, groups, and suites. My favorite part of my job is being able to create once-in-a-lifetime memories and experiences for deserving people!

What's a work-related accomplishment that you're really proud of?

I would have to say one of my biggest work accomplishments came recently by hitting my renewal goal for this year already. After being promoted in August of 2023, it was a very quick adjustment when connecting with my members and only really having the 2023 football season to do so, and having hit my goal already even with the season we had on the field is just a testament to the relationships I built within that time.

What inspires you to come to work each day?

The opportunity to create a better life for me and everyone in my supporting cast. My motivation lies in the middle between the amount of work/effort that was put in for me to get here, and the potential for what could possibly come if I continue my aspirations to be legendary.

How has your heritage shaped who you are today?

I have been instilled with the confidence that no matter what I do I can excel at it if my mind, faith, and work ethic are all aligned. Also, I strive to have an awareness that I will never be perfect so understanding that growth and learning never stop.

What does this month mean to you?

Black history means knowing that I am a part of a legacy of resilience and attached to excellence. It is so impactful to know that the sacrifices that those before me made were not in vain, but to help pave the way for me to pursue my dreams.

What quote or mantra do you live by?

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard
