Stars Gather For "Rally Around The Redskins"

One dozen former Redskins greats are scheduled to participate in the Redskins Alumni Association's "Rally Around The Redskins" dinner set for Wed., Aug. 8 at the Roanoke Country Club.

Proceeds will benefit the Chance Harman Foundation, which focuses on pediatric brain tumor research in conjunction with Duke University.

The dinner offers an opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of former Redskins stars. Scheduled the day before the Redskins play their first preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, the evening offers the opportunity to not only hear about past games, but opinions about the coming season.

Confirmed players expected to appear include 1982 NFL MVP Mark Moseley, three-time pro bowlers Pat Fischer, Roy Jefferson and Mike Nelms, Ron "The Dancing Bear" McDole,  two-time Super Bowl champion Ravin Caldwell, Bill Brundige (who blocked Garo Yepremian's field-goal attempt in Super Bowl VII), longtime trainer Bubba Tyer and offensive lineman Ron Saul.  

Darryl Grant, Mike Bragg and Pulaski County-native Gary Clark are also expected to attend.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person. The evening begins at 6:30 PM with a reception, with dinner to be served at 7:30 PM. The presentation and program will begin at 8:30 PM, and the results of a silent auction – which will be filled with memorabilia from many Redskins Alumni – as well the evening's raffle will be announced at 9:30 PM.

The players will each address the audience and mingle with fans throughout the evening. Time will also be allotted for photograph and autograph opportunities. Due to limited seating, fans are encouraged to order their tickets early before they sell out.
