LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation announced today that Richard Montgomery High School head football coach, Josh Klotz, has been named the Redskins High School Coach of the Week presented by Inova Sports Medicine for the week of Nov. 14.

Klotz is in his fourth season as head coach at Richard Montgomery. This past weekend, the Rockets improved to 10-1 after defeating Northwest High School, 28-13, in the first round of the 2016 Maryland High School Football Playoffs.

The Rockets have made significant improvements each year that Coach Klotz has been at the helm, increasing their win percentage each of the four years. Last season, Klotz was named the Football Coach of the Year by the Montgomery Sentinel Newspaper and was also the recipient of the Richard Montgomery Coach of the Year Award.

Athletic Director Chamy Wijeratne described Klotz as "the epitome of preparation, work ethic, commitment, sacrifice, and perseverance." He went on to say that "[Klotz] holds a core set of values of what he believes a successful and dominant Richard Montgomery football player is, and he models those qualities every single day."

Creating a family atmosphere amongst his student-athletes is something that Klotz has focused on during his years at Richard Montgomery. Klotz holds lunch-time film study sessions, camps, fundraisers and community activities in which his student-athletes participate, all designed to help build camaraderie amongst his players.

Klotz relies heavily on Richard Montgomery's athletic training staff when it comes to player safety. The program has a full-time trainer on staff that makes important decisions regarding player injuries.

Wijeratne commended Klotz for ultimately rebuilding what many considered to be a mediocre program and turning it into something of which the players and the community can be proud.

"He really is an exceptional coach who has made historical strides in our football program over the last two years," Wijeratne said. "He's the real deal."
