Cheerleader Tecoya Recaps Her Visit To China

Ni Hao Redskins Fans,

This is Tecoya, your 2013 Pro Bowl Cheerleader, reporting to you after a memorable trip to China. For those who may not know, after Hawaii, eight Pro Bowl Cheerleaders were selected to do a tour of two cities in China (Beijing and Shanghai).  I was blessed to be one of the ladies chosen to go represent the NFL and spend 5 Days in Shanghai, China.

After over 10 hrs of travel from Hawaii and a good night's rest, myself and 3 other ladies (Myra: Carolina Panthers, Casey: Philadelphia Eagles, and Ashley: New Orleans Saints) spent the afternoon teaching a room full of aspiring cheerleaders.  We were able to conduct a cheer/dance workshop for over 50 young ladies, ranging from the ages of 5-15. Afterwards, we stayed to make sure every girl got to take photos and get personally signed Pro Bowl Cheerleader team photos.  The girls were very eager to learn the actual routines used at Pro Bowl, but we were probably more humbled to be around so much energy and excitement. Being able to teach the students of Shanghai Community International School was definitely a good way to start off our trip.

For the next two days we were given an amazing tour guide, Maggie, and was able to tour various parts of Shanghai.  It was breathtaking to see the different types of architecture ranging from various historical moments in China. Some of the buildings were more light colored brick and considered to be more of a European design; while others were of a more darker brick which was inspired by the French.  We were also able to shop in some of Shanghai's boutiques, eat at the View Restaurant (which is on the 87th floor of the Hyatt), and see the Peace Hotel (a famous hotel that first lady, Michelle Obama, stays when she comes to visit).

Last but not least, the Shanghai tour group was able to perform at the Superbowl Event sponsored by NFL China.  400 guests sat in their seats at 7am for the big game and were able to enjoy a brunch buffet, Superbowl ice sculptures, and a room sized televison that aired the Superbowl. There were stickers given to each guest to distinguish what teams everyone wanted to win and we were able to dance twice during the game, sign autographs, and take photos. It was truly a memorable experience and I would relive every moment if I could.

Well, Redskins Fans that's all from me. This has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I am blessed to have the opportunity to share it with all of you.  Thank you for your continuous support of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders and feel free to look at photos of our trips on facebook.

With Cheers and Love,
