Get Glam with Shannon

Hello Beauties! My name is Shannon and I just completed my rookie season as a Washington Redskins Cheerleader. I love so many aspects of game day, but my absolute favorite part is completing a glamorous game day makeup look. Makeup is truly a passion of mine and I cherish any opportunity I get to practice this craft. My favorite canvases to practice on are the faces of my lovely teammates in the locker room. I love to help enhance their natural beauty while sharing my beauty tips and tricks. So, with the season vastly approaching, I'd like to share my top 7 beauty tips to keep you looking glamorous throughout auditions and the football season.

1. Prep, Prime and Moisturize

Before beginning the make-up application process, it's very important to prep the skin. Using a daily moisturizer and primer before application will keep the skin looking radiant and smooth all day long. Moisturizers and primers can also serve as a protective barrier between the skin and makeup.

2. Started from the Bottom, Now We're Here- Foundation

While building a house, it is important to be sure there is a sturdy foundation to support this structure, otherwise it'd topple to the ground. The same theory applies with makeup; your foundation choice is crucial to your overall make-up look. As dancers and performers, we tend to sweat a lot while performing for hours at a time, so it is important to use a long-wearing, medium to full coverage foundation that matches your current skin color (if you tan).

Trick: Breaking the bank doesn't have to be an option as there are many foundations that are low in cost yet high in quality and can be found in your local drug-store such as Maybelline Fit Me and L'Oréal.

3. Mesmerize and Glamour-Eyes!

There's an old saying that "the eyes are the windows to the soul". It's typically the first thing people will notice when they see you, so be sure to mesmerize the fans by using eye shadows that compliment your eye color! To increase your glamour and overall wow factor, always finish the look with a fluttery and flirty set of lashes.

Trick: Use an eye shadow base or concealer underneath shadows to make colors pop and take the time to carefully blend your eye shadow to create a seamless, gradient look.

4. Don't Sweat the Technique-Application Techniques

Some makeup application techniques are important and quite often they can be very confusing to a novice. However, one doesn't have to be a licensed professional or a MAC employee to figure out how to create a flawless makeup look. Try to find products and tools that can have multiple uses throughout the makeup application process, i.e. an eye shadow that can double as a blush or a beauty sponge that can apply multiple liquid or cream products. Not only will this help save some precious coins, it will help save a lot of time and complete the look a lot faster. Be sure to do some research and find some techniques that will work for you!

5.  Ready, SET, Go!

We put a lot of hard work and effort into creating our glamorous looks, so it's imperative to ensure that this look stays put all day. Use a setting powder to set liquid and cream products that were applied to the face. For extra security, feel free to use a long-lasting setting spray to seal the deal.

6.  After you shake it off, take it OFF!

Always remember to take off makeup at the end of the day! Help prevent clogged pores and breakouts by using an oil based remover to break down the products and a makeup wipe to wipe it all away.

Trick:  Find a 2-in-1 make-up remover and cleanser product to gently remove make up and cleanse the skin in one simple step.

7.  DRINK WATER!

Though this may sound cliché, drinking lots of water is truly beneficial in promoting healthy skin. Not only will it improve your overall health, drinking more water will help flush out toxins and impurities from the body thus decreasing the likelihood of discoloration, breakouts, and acne.
