The Washington Commanders will officially play the Philadelphia Eagles at Northwest Stadium on Dec. 20 with a scheduled kickoff for 5 p.m. ET.

The game, which was initially announced in May, could have major implications for the NFC East and who could emerge as the division champion. The Commanders (3-9) are currently one game away from being eliminated from postseason contention thanks to a seven-game losing streak caused by a mixture of injuries to key players and other factors. The Eagles (8-4) are currently in first place but seem to be in a rut after losing their last two games. They allowed the Dallas Cowboys, currently second in the division, to come back from a 21-0 deficit and win with a field goal at the end of regulation at AT&T Stadium. They also suffered a 24-15 defeat to the Chicago Bears at home, giving the Bears the No. 1 seed in the NFC for now.

The Cowboys (6-5-1) are currently one game back from the Eagles in the loss column. The teams have already played each other twice and split the matchups.

The Commanders are the Eagles' last division opponent on their schedule. The two team will also meet in the season finale at Lincoln Financial Field, although the time has yet to be determined.
