We don't have any specifics on what the Washington Commanders' new uniforms will look like, but here's what we do know: the players are big fans of them.
"That's tough!" Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves said after he signed his extension with the team.
Moments after they officially signed their contracts, members of the Commanders' free agency class got a glimpse of the new uniforms that will debut next week on April 15. The list of players featured in a clip released by the Commanders' social media team included Reaves, running back Jeremy McNichols, cornerback Amik Robertson, defensive end Odafe Oweh, linebacker Leo Chenal, running back Rachaad White, wide receiver Dyami Brown and several others. The video didn't feature much dialogue, but players' reactions made it clear that they approved of the new design.
The Commanders first teased a new look for their uniforms last week by releasing a video of boxes containing uniforms and a Riddell helmet arriving at the BigBear.ai Performance Center at Commanders Park. While not much is known about what the new uniforms will look like, the team has been dedicated to blending its past and future since Josh Harris took over as Managing Partner. In 2024, the team brought back the iconic gold pants, and last season, it revealed its "Super Bowl Era" uniforms and helmets that resembled the ones the franchise wore during their championship seasons.
Harris said during his sit-down with reporters at League Meetings in Arizona that this trend would continue with the team's new uniforms.
"The priority is honoring our past and then looking to the future; updating but not forgetting about our heritage, who we are and honoring that," Harris said. "And we have a bunch of things up our sleeves. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but we're going to continue to embrace our past, but then update it. And so, stay tuned."
It has been a goal of Harris' to blend the organization's past and future since he and his partners officially took control of the team in 2023. He grew up watching the team during the three decades when it won three Super Bowls and competed for a championship on a regular basis. He wants the franchise to return to that success as much as possible, whether that's winning on the field or beginning plans for the next stadium to be at the former RFK site.
"There are many ways to honor our past, and you're seeing how we treat athletes and bringing back some of our past superstars," Harris said. "So, all those things go into it."
With one week left until the big reveal, fans should make sure to keep their social media notifications turned on and check out Commanders.com on April 15 for more information as well as later this summer when the 2026 jersey schedule will be released.
