The Washington Commanders have signed veteran offensive tackle Tyre Phillips to their roster. He was previously one of the players team brought in for a tryout during rookie minicamp.
Phillips, a third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2020, has appeared in 47 games with 28 starts. He was most recently a member of the New York Giants in 2024 and played in three games with one start, which came during the season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Phillips started his college career at East Mississippi Community College before committing to Mississippi State. He was a rotational player at the beginning of his stint with the Bulldogs but started the entire 2019 season.
Phillips spent two seasons with the Ravens and was released ahead of the 2022 season. He spent the next three seasons moving between the Giants and Eagles as a member of their practice squads.
