FedExField Adds Two More College Games to Schedule

FedExField, home of the Washington Redskins, has added two more exciting college football games to its already unmatched slate. Brigham Young and West Virginia will play on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, and Maryland will host Texas on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018.

The BYU-WVU game will mark the first meeting between the schools' football programs. Texas holds a 3-0 series advantage over Maryland. The last meeting between the programs was in the 1978 Sun Bowl.

"We are pleased to host these matchups at FedExField," Redskins Chief Marketing Officer Mitch Gershman said. "We strive to bring a number of high-profile sporting and entertainment events to FedExField as a benefit to our season ticketholders and the rest of the metropolitan area, and these games are great examples."

Redskins' premium season ticketholders enjoy a right of first refusal for tickets to events held at FedExField. Information on tickets sales and kickoff time will be released at a later date.

Texas and BYU are two of only five programs nationally to win 10 or more games each of the past four seasons. From 2006 through 2009, BYU compiled a record of 43-9, while Texas has gone 45-8 over that same time span, including a National Championship Game berth this past January.

West Virginia has been one of the elite programs in the nation this decade, winning eight or more games for eight straight years, receiving AP Top 25 billing for the past five years, including three in the Top 10 finishes, and earning eight straight bowl trips. Maryland has been in a bowl game six of the last nine years.

FedExField will also host other high-profile college football games such as Penn State vs. Indiana on Nov. 20, 2010; Notre Dame vs. Maryland on Nov. 12, 2011; the 112th Army-Navy Game on Dec. 10, 2011; and Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati in 2012.

Earlier this season FedExField hosted the nationally-televised game between No. 3 Boise State and No. 10 Virginia Tech.
