Garçon To Start, Meriweather Makes Debut

Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather (knee) is active for the first time this season and is expected to make his Redskins debut in the starting lineup.

Meriweather was injured during offseason activities and reinjured during the preseason contest in Chicago.  He was expected to make his Redskins debut in Tampa Bay in Week 4, but a pregame collision with receiver Aldrick Robinson set him back until after the bye week.

He is joined in the starting lineup by receiver Pierre Garçon, who has battled a major toe injury since Week 1.  Garçon has not been active since Week 5, and is said to be managing pain in an effort to boost the team's receiving corps.

Garçon's inclusion in the active roster comes at the expense of Dezmon Briscoe, who has been ruled inactive.

Rookie offensive lineman Josh LeRibeus is active for a second straight week, bumping second-year lineman Maurice Hurt.

Here is the full list of Redskins inactives:

  • No. 8 QB Rex Grossman
  • No. 19 WR Dezmon Briscoe
  • No. 39 CB Richard Crawford
  • No. 58 LB Mario Addison
  • No. 73 G Adam Gettis
  • No. 79 OL Maurice Hurt
  • No. 90 DE Doug Worthington

As expected, the Eagles will be without dynamic quarterback Michael Vick, who sits out this week with a concussion.  Rookie quarterback Nick Foles will start in his place.

He is joined by third receiver Jason Avant, who has started three games this season and averages 10.5 yards per catch.

Here is the full list of Eagles inactives:

  • No. 7 QB Michael Vick
  • No. 19 WR Mardy Gilyard
  • No. 32 RB Chris Polk
  • No. 74 T/G Nate Menkin
  • No. 75 DE Vinny Curry
  • No. 76 DE Phillip Hunt
  • No. 81 WR Jason Avant
