The Washington Redskins defeated the Dallas Cowboys 28-18 to secure their first NFC East title since 1999. The team won their final seven games to finish the season at 10-6.
Two of the seven wins came against the Cowboys, with the first victory in a thriller on Thanksgiving Day, 38-31.
Veteran receiver Santana Moss was key in both games and has been against the Cowboys throughout his career with the Redskins.
Moss was acquired by the Redskins in 2005 in a trade with the New York Jets, and had instant success against the Cowboys.
In only his second game in a Redskins uniform, he torched the Cowboys, catching five passes for 159 and 2 touchdowns in an iconic 14-13 comeback victory on Monday Night Football.
For years, Moss was the Redskins' go-to receiver. He posted three 1,000 yard season in his first six seasons with the team.
His first season was his best as he finished the season with 1,483 yards, smashing Bobby Mitchell's team record for receiving yards in a season.
As the Redskins added explosive players to the offense over the years, Moss's role had evolved.
"My role is changed," Moss said. "But I stayed true to who I am. I know at the end of the day, my role has changed but the player hasn't."
Moss continued to be a key to the success of the Redskins' offense during the 2012 season, as he finished with eight touchdowns, his second-most in a single season with the team.
"I know that I am capable to do the things that I have been doing now, even with a lesser role," Moss said. "That just makes me that more deadly, because I don't have to be out there as much."
During the Redskins seven-game winning streak, Moss showcased just how lethal he can still be, hauling in 260 yards and three touchdowns down the stretch.
One of those three scores came against the Cowboys in the Thanksgiving Day victory; a crisp 6-yard pass from quarterback Robert Griffin III.
The Redskins swept the season series against the Cowboys for the first time since the 2005 season. Moss, however, has come up big against the Cowboys throughout his Redskins career, as he has 84 receptions for 1,189 yards and seven touchdowns against the Redskins' bitter rival.
Moss is one of the few remaining players left from the last Redskins playoff team in 2007, but this is his first division title with the team.
"It feels really good. Really sweet."
While the Redskins are excited at this season's success, Moss knows that their main goal still hasn't been reached yet: the Super Bowl.
"I've celebrated enough," Moss said. "I'm ready for business again."
