The Washington Commanders have released their 2025 preseason, including a road trip to play the New England Patriots before wrapping things up with back-to-back home games against the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens.
The Commanders' preseason opener will take place at Gillette Stadium against the Patriots on Aug. 8 with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on CBS. The matchup with the Bengals will be at Northwest Stadium on Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN. Their game against the Baltimore Ravens, which was previously unknown at the time of the 2025 regular season schedule release on May 14, will be on Aug. 23 with kickoff scheduled for noon.
Like last year, there will be several litmus tests for the Commanders during their preseason schedule. Quarterback Jayden Daniels will square off against Drake Maye for their first time in their professional careers. It will also be the first time the Commanders will face a team coached by Mike Vrabel, who is known for leading tough and competitive rosters. Their second preseason game, otherwise known as the "dress rehearsal game," will be against Joe Burrow and a dynamic Bengals offense.
Although Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is unlikely to see much action, if any, in the preseason finale, any Commanders player looking to compete for a spot will do so against an opponent that routinely puts together solid rosters.
Preseason results do not always reflect how a team will fare during the regular season, but being competitive should help the Commanders gain some momentum for their Week 1 home matchup against the New York Giants.
