LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Commanders announced today they have named David Blough as the team's offensive coordinator.

Blough is entering his third season with the organization. He was the assistant quarterbacks coach in 2024-25 and handled increased responsibilities in the quarterback room following quarterbacks coach Tavita Pritchard departing the organization for Stanford in 2025. Blough played a major role in preparing three different quarterbacks to start multiple games for Washington in 2025.

In 2024, QB Jayden Daniels accounted for 4,459 offensive yards and 31 total touchdowns, and the team averaged 28.5 points per game, the third-most in a single season in franchise history. Daniels' combined 31 touchdowns ranked third all-time for a rookie quarterback in league history and is tied with Kirk Cousins for the third most in a single season in Washington history. He became the seventh rookie quarterback in NFL history with five straight games with at least two touchdown passes.

In 2024, Blough helped lead a quarterback unit that had the highest completion percentage in a single season in franchise history (69.5), threw for the fifth-most passing touchdowns in a single season (29), and third-fewest interceptions in a single season (9).

Prior to the start of his coaching career, Blough played quarterback for four seasons with the Detroit Lions (2019-2021; 2023) and one season with the Arizona Cardinals (2022). In his five-year career, Blough recorded 1,435 passing yards and six touchdowns. Blough most notably played under Dan Campbell, Ben Johnson, Kevin O'Connell and Kliff Kingsbury.

Blough attended Purdue from 2015-18 and earned his master's degree in health and kinesiology after earning his bachelor's in organizational leadership.

A native of Carrollton, Texas, Blough is married to Olympian Melissa Gonzalez, who specializes in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4 x 400-meter relay.
