Commanders, Ravens, mutually call off joint practice

The Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens have mutually agreed to call off their joint practice scheduled for next week ahead of their preseason finale.

The teams will meet for the first time on Aug. 23 at Northwest Stadium at noon.

"Sometimes, schedules don't sync up," Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said before Thursday's practice. "I visited with [Ravens head coach] John [Harbaugh] last night, and he's always choosing the best choices for players. So, every once in a while, it just doesn't sync up. We're bummed; we got a lot of respect for them and were looking forward to it, but we'll get to see them a couple days after that."

The Ravens announced the news prior to Quinn's press conference via social media. The team cited "logistical challenges" and "the added strain on players heading into a short week" as the reasons for cancelling the joint practice.

Rather than hosting the Ravens at their team facility in Ashburn, Virginia, the Commanders will have a schedule that is similar to what they have done in previous weeks of training camp. Quinn said they will focus on situational work during practice on Wednesday, Aug. 20, following by more work against each other on Aug. 21. After that, they will have a walkthrough and prepare for their noon kickoff against the Ravens on Aug. 23.
