Commanders sign 3 players, release 3, place 2 on IR

The Washington Commanders have signed cornerback Essang Bassey, linebacker Duke Riley and cornerback Antonio Hamilton Sr. to the active roster.

In corresponding moves, the Commanders have also released defensive end Viliami Fehoko Jr., cornerback Allan George and linebacker Dominique Hampton. They have also played tackle Lucas Niang and cornerback Kevon Seymour on the Reserve/Injured list.

Bassey, an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest, has played in 43 games with five starts. After originally being signed by the Denver Broncos, Bassey has also spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers. For his career, Bassey has recorded 60 tackles with seven pass breakups and an interception.

Riley was a third-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2017, when Dan Quinn was the team's head coach. A former LSU Tiger, Riley has played in 124 games with 36 starts. Over the course of his career, which includes stints with the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles, Riley has recorded 283 tackles with two sacks, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles and an interception.

Hamilton, who spent the 2024 season with the Falcons, is a nine-year veteran who started his career as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders. He has recorded 179 tackles with two interceptions and 25 pass breakups. He has appeared in 109 games with 18 starts in his career with five different teams, including the New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.
