The Washington Commanders have ruled out wide receiver Terry McLaurin for their game against the Chicago Bears, head coach Dan Quinn confirmed during his Saturday press conference.
Monday's primetime matchup marks the third consecutive game he will miss this season after injuring his quad while trying to score a touchdown against the Las Vegas Raiders. McLaurin has not practiced in an official capacity since suffering the injury, although he was working off to the side on Thursday.
The Commanders will also be without Noah Brown, who has also missed the last three games with groin and knee injuries, possibly making his return. Brown has been a reliable target for Daniels when healthy since he signed with the team last season and caught the Hail Mary touchdown that beat the Bears the last time the two squads squared off at Northwest Stadium. Quinn said that both he and McLaurin have made good progress with their respective injuries, but neither player is quite ready to make their return.
McLaurin's absence means the Commanders will need their other options at receiver to step up once again. The Commanders have been fortunate in that regard, as the likes of Luke McCaffrey, who caught a 50-yard pass from Jayden Daniels against the Los Angeles Chargers, and Deebo Samuel, who was on the injury report but will play Monday, have performed well in their expanded role. Samuel has emerged as the team's go-to option in the passing game, ranking ninth among all receivers in receptions, with 300 yards and four total touchdowns.
Guard Sam Cosmi, who was designated to return to practice last week, is inching closer to his 2025 debut but will be inactive on Monday. Cosmi has made gradual progress since his window was opened and participated in his first fully padded practice on Thursday -- an important step for him as he tries to acclimate his body to the physical demands of his position. The Commanders still have a week left before they must decide whether to activate him or return him to the Physically Unable to Perform list for the rest of the year.
The remaining players on Washington's injury report, which includes running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. (calf) and tight end John Bates (shoulder) will be active for Monday's game.
