The Washington Commanders are taking on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football in Week 9. Check out this blog for stats and highlights from the action.
8:21 p.m.
And here we go. The Commanders have won the toss and will receive the ball to start the night. It would provide a massive boost for the team if Jayden Daniels and the offense were able to get points on the board early. Gotta start off on the right foot against teams like Seattle.
8:29 p.m.
Good idea for the Commanders to start the game on offense, but an illegal blindside block killed the momentum. Fortunately, Tress Way is still good at punting the football, and the Seahawks are backed up inside their own 10-yard line. Also, Luke McCaffrey (shoulder) is questionable to return.
8:45 p.m.
A tough series for the Commanders' defense, which allowed the Seahawks to put together a 12-play, 90-yard drive. They allowed the Seahawks to convert a first-and-25 and helped Seattle move to their 3-yard line with a defensive pass interference call. The Seattle offense is efficient, but Washington can't give them any extra help.
8:59 p.m.
The Commanders' offense was upended by another 15-yard penalty. This time, it was a facemask that turned a third-and-2 into a third-and-17. That play was immediately followed up by Daniels' second interception of the season.
Tough, tough, tough
9:16 p.m.
Really rough few minutes for the Commanders. The Seahawks went up by 14 with another touchdown from Horton. Then, Jaylin Lane fumbled the ball on the ensuing kickoff, and one play later, the Seahawks went up 21-0.
9:40 p.m.
We have a touchdown from the Commanders. Daniels ran it in from one yard out to make the score 28-7.
10:12 p.m.
We're in the second half after a field goal from the Seahawks to make things 31-7 at the break. The defense managed to get a stop from the Seahawks to start the third quarter, thanks to Darnold tossing his first incompletion of the night, but the offense stalled near midfield and had to punt it back to Seattle.
10:46 p.m.
We're now in the fourth quarter following a frustrating 15 minutes from the Commanders. Seattle added to their lead with a one-yard run by A.J. Barner, while the Commanders have had more flashes than sustained drives. It's 38-7 in Seattle's favor as we march to the end of this game.
