LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Commanders announced today that they have signed outside linebacker Odafe Oweh. Full terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Oweh (6-5, 251) is a six-year NFL veteran who entered the league with the Baltimore Ravens as a first-round pick (31st overall) in 2021. In his career, Oweh has appeared in 79 games with 27 starts and recorded 176 total tackles, 30.5 sacks, 79 quarterback hits, 34 tackles for loss, seven forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one pass defensed.
Oweh spent this past season with the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Chargers. He played in five games with the Ravens, starting in two, recording 10 total tackles, five quarterback hits and one tackle for loss. After joining the Chargers in Week 6, he played in 12 games, starting in two and recorded 28 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits and eight tackles for loss. Oweh led the team in total pressures (37) and quick pressures (12) and set the Chargers playoff record of three sacks and two forced fumbles in a single game during the 2026 AFC Wild Card Playoff game against the New England Patriots. He generated the sixth-highest pressure rate (17.3 percent, min. 200 pass rushes) in the NFL during the 2025 season.
In 2024, Oweh saw action in all 17 games, starting in 10 and recorded 39 total tackles, 10.0 sacks, 23 quarterback hits, nine tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
From 2021-23, Oweh appeared in 45 games with 13 starts where he totaled 99 total tackles, 13.0 sacks, 38 quarterback hits, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one pass defensed.
Oweh played collegiately at Penn State for four seasons (2018-21) where he played in 24 games with eight starts, recording 63 total tackles, 7.0 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two passes defensed. He earned Associated Press All-Big Ten second team selection and received All-Big Ten second team recognition from Pro Football Focus.
Oweh, a Hackensack, New Jersey native attended Blair Academy high school.
