FedExField, home of the Washington Redskins, will host a contest between West Virginia and James Madison on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012.

The WVU-JMU game will mark the second meeting between the schools' football programs.

The Mountaineers defeated James Madison, 45-10, at West Virginia's Mountaineer Field on Sept. 25, 2004. Both schools finished that year as champions as WVU hoisted the Big East crown and JMU won the D1-AA National Championship.

"We enjoy being able to bring together two programs that have large fan bases within the metropolitan area," Redskins chief marketing officer Mitch Gershman said. "We strive to bring a number of high-profile sporting and entertainment events to FedExField as a benefit to our season ticketholders and the rest of the region, and this matchup is another example."

Redskins' premium season ticketholders enjoy a right of first refusal for tickets to events held at FedExField. Information on tickets sales and kickoff time will be released at a later date.

West Virginia has been one of the elite programs in the nation over the past decade, winning eight or more games for nine straight years, receiving AP Top 25 billing for five of the past six years, including three Top 10 finishes, and earning nine straight bowl trips.

In addition to winning the 2004 championship, James Madison has posted winning seasons each of the past seven years and advanced to the playoffs four times over that span.

Last year, the Dukes knocked off No. 13 Virginia Tech, 21-16, on the road in Blacksburg, Va.

FedExField is scheduled to host other high-profile college football games such as Notre Dame vs. Maryland on Nov. 12, 2011; the 112th Army-Navy Game on Dec. 10, 2011; and Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati in 2012.

During the 2010 season, FedExField hosted the nationally-televised game between No. 3 Boise State and No. 10 Virginia Tech and a Big Ten matchup between Penn State and Indiana.
