The Washington Commanders suffered their fourth consecutive loss on Sunday night at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks, but the biggest loss of the night came near the end of the fourth quarter.

Jayden Daniels, who had just returned from a hamstring injury sustained two weeks ago, was escorted off the field after suffering an injury to his left arm with less than eight minutes left in the eventual 38-14 defeat. The injury occurred as Daniels went down on a two-yard sack.

Head coach Dan Quinn said after the game that Daniels suffered a left elbow injury and would have more updates later in the week.

The game itself was a mixture of a standout performance from the Seahawks on both sides of the field and the Commanders' self-inflicted errors. While the offense backed itself up with personal foul penalties, the defense struggled to contain Sam Darnold, who completed his first 16 passes and tossed four touchdown passes -- a career-high for the veteran.

It was 28-0 before the Commanders mustered a response, and the night ended with the Commanders still looking for answers.

The biggest loss, however, came at quarterback, as Jayden Daniels was carted off the field in the fourth quarter with an arm injury. He walked back to the locker room with a cast on his left arm.

The Seahawks, now 4-0 on the road, had success in nearly every metric against the Commanders, who dropped their fourth consecutive loss to move to 3-6. They doubled the Commanders in total yardage in the first half, 330-140, and were perfect on their first five third-down attempts. They averaged 12.2 yards per play in the first half, compared to the 5.5 from Washington's unit, and turned two Washington turnovers into touchdowns.

Darnold finished the night 21-of-24 for 330 yards with four touchdowns, one interception and a 141 passer rating.

But in several ways, the Commanders' mistakes were just as much to blame as a historically productive night from the Seattle offense. The two turnovers -- an interception from Jayden Daniels and a fumble from Jaylin Lane on a kickoff return -- were the most glaring gaffes, but an amalgamation of penalties, missed tackles and communication issues also stifled any attempts from the Commanders to climb back into the game.

It started on the Commanders' opening drive of the game. An illegal blindside block moved the unit back 15 yards, eliminating most of the progress the Commanders made on the previous four plays. The Commanders were forced to punt after an eight-yard completion to Zach Ertz on third-and-21.

The Seahawks set up shop at their own 10-yard line and marched down the field on a 12-play scoring drive -- their first of five in the first half. The Seahawks completed a first-and-25 with completions to Jaxon Smith-Njigba for 13 and 14 yards as well as an eight-yard reception from tight end A.J. Barner. Later in the drive, a pass interference call on Marshon Lattimore moved the ball to the Commanders' 3-yard line, and Tory Horton finished things off with his first touchdown catch of the night.

The Commanders put together a solid response on their ensuing drive, moving to the Seahawks' 40-yard line following a nine-yard gain from Deebo Samuel. But a facemask penalty negated a six-yard run from Daniels on third-and-2, moving the Commanders back for a third-and-17. Daniels threw an interception on the next play, and the Seahawks moved 60 yards downfield to go up 14-0 with a 25-yard catch from Horton on a third-and-8.

The Seahawks were back in the end zone seconds later, as Lane's fumble on the ensuing kickoff gave Seattle the ball at the Commanders' 26-yard line. Elijah Arroyo was wide open for the touchdown pass on the next play, making the score 21-0.

The Commanders' next offensive possession lasted three plays and encompassed four yards. The Seahawks only needed four plays to find the end zone again, as Darnold connected with Cody White for a 60-yard touchdown pass.

Now down 28-0, Daniels and the Commanders' offense stopped the bleeding with a 10-play, 69-yard drive. Daniels accounted for 49 yards on the possession, including a one-yard touchdown to make the score 28-7.

The Seahawks moved 53 yards in 53 seconds, setting up a 41-yard field goal to make the score 31-7 at halftime.

The Commanders managed to slow the Seahawks' offense to start the second half, forcing Darnold to toss his first incompletion of the night on third-and-1. They also forced a turnover on the Seahawks' ensuing possession with an interception from Mike Sainristil, upping his total to three for the season.

Washington's offense did little with the extra opportunities, though. They were forced to punt five plays into their first drive of the third quarter and turned it over on downs on their second. Meanwhile, the Seahawks extended their lead with a nine-play, 60-yard drive that ended with Barner punching it in on a one-yard run.

Chris Rodriguez closed the gap with a four-yard run with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter. From there, the Seahawks ran out the clock to take the win.
