Another date on the Washington Commanders 2025 calendar has been unwrapped: they will welcome the Dallas Cowboys for a Christmas Day clash in Week 17. The game will be televised on Netflix at 1 p.m.

It marks the first year that the Commanders will play on Christmas, as Washington was one of only seven teams that had never played on the holiday. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have played on Christmas five times, most recently in 2010 when they narrowly lost to the Cardinals, 27-26, in Arizona.

Washington's last game against Dallas, which came at AT&T Stadium during the regular season finale, resulted in a critical win for the Commanders. By beating the Cowboys 23-19, the Burgundy & Gold closed out the 2024 regular season with a 12-5 record -- its best since the 1991 season -- and locked up the No. 6 seed in the playoffs.

A bevy of injuries to key players such as Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs and DeMarcus Lawrence presented challenges for the Dallas Cowboys in 2024. They finished third in the NFC East, and despite a late-season push, missed the playoffs with a 7-10 record. Offseason moves, including the hiring of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the trade for wide receiver George Pickens and a highly lauded draft haul, will make them a team to keep an eye on throughout the 2025 season.

The Christmas game against Dallas means Washington will play back-to-back division games at home. Earlier in the week, it was announced that the Commanders would play the Eagles at Northwest Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 20.
