The 2025 season is now over for the Washington Commanders, and after a 5-12 finish, they now know where they will be drafting in April.
The Commanders' 24-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles to close out the season ensured that they will receive the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. After a 3-2 start to their 2025 campaign, the Commanders went on an eight-game losing streak before their next victory, which came in Week 15 against the New York Giants. But with them picking so high, the team will have their pick of one of the best prospects in college football.
The exact spots for Washington's remaining picks will be determined at a later date.
Washington holds the No. 7 overall pick for the fourth time in franchise history. The last time they selected a player at that spot in the draft came in 1999, when they took cornerback Champ Bailey -- a member of the franchise's 90 Greatest Players list and a Hall of Fame inductee. In his five seasons with Washington -- he was traded to the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2004 season -- Bailey recorded 18 interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, and 81 pass breakups, which earned him four Pro Bowls. The other players Washington selected with the No. 7 pick include Larry Isbell (1952) and Pat Richter (1963).
Washington will have the chance to address multiple spots on the roster, from pass rusher to wide receiver and much more. The road to finding out who will usher in a new era for the franchise begins in Mobile, Alabama, where coaches and scouts around the league will converge for the Senior Bowl.
Washington currently has six picks in the 2026 draft.
