LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Commanders announced today that they have signed defensive end K'Lavon Chaisson. Full terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Chaisson (6-3, 255) is entering his seventh season after being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round (20th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has played in 88 career games with 25 starts and totaled 135 tackles, 17.5 sacks and 49 quarterback hits on his career.
Last season, his first season in New England, Chaisson recorded career highs in starts (10), sacks (7.5), quarterback hits (18), tackles for loss (10) and forced fumbles (2). He played in all four playoff games, including Super Bowl LX, and made starts in the Wild Card round and AFC Championship Game against Denver.
Chaisson played one season in Las Vegas (2024), following his first four seasons in Jacksonville (2020-2023). In his lone season with the Raiders, Chaisson amassed 5.0 sacks, eight quarterback hits and seven tackles for loss in just four starts. With Jacksonville, Chaisson made 11 starts and had 5.0 sacks, 23 quarterback hits and 11 tackles for loss across four seasons.
A native of Houston, Texas, Chaisson attended North Shore Senior High School and played collegiately for three seasons (2017-2019) at Louisiana State University. Chaisson was a member of LSU's 2020 national championship team and made the Coaches All-SEC First Team and AP All-SEC Second Team the same season. He finished his college career with 92 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.
