The Washington Commanders are taking on the Miami Dolphins in Madrid today. Check out this game blog for stats and updates throughout the day.
9:42 a.m. ET
The Commanders won the toss and deferred to the second half. It took some time for the defense to wake up, as the Dolphins zoomed to the Commanders' 32-yard line on three plays. De'Von Achane was heavily involved in the drive, as he had runs of 14 and 24 yards. The defense finally managed a stop inside their 30-yard line, and after the Dolphins were called for a delay of game on fourth-and-1, Miami had to settle for a field goal.
Now it's time for the Commanders' offense to take the field. They have four running backs active today, so we'll see how heavily they lean on the run game.
9:56 a.m. ET
Also, here's a cool moment for Bobby Wagner: with his tackle of Jaylen Wright, he hit 100 tackles for the 14th consecutive season, tying him with London Fletcher for the most all-time. Another addition to the Hall of Fame resume.

10:01 a.m. ET
Washington ties it up with a field goal after a 13-play, 71-yard drive. A bit of a frustrating way to end what was a solid, balanced drive, but still, their opening drive ended in points, which is an improvement
10:16 a.m. ET
There's a lot of bending from the Commanders' defense, but no breaking so far. Jacob Martin just picked up his first sack of the day on Tua Tagovailoa to bring up fourth down and force another field goal from Riley Patterson. It hasn't been a complete turnaround with Dan Quinn as the defensive play caller, but there is an improvement
10:26 a.m. ET
A frustrating end to a decent drive from Washington's offense. Mariota was sacked on third down, which forced Matt Gay for a 51-yard attempt that was wide right. The Commanders showed some good stuff on the drive, particularly from Chris Rodriguez, who leads the team with 41 rushing yards. The defense needs to figure out a way to prevent the Dolphins from starting their drives with chunk plays.
10:31 a.m. ET
And the Commanders get the stop they needed. Jonathan Jones blitzed into the backfield for the Commanders' second sack on Tagovailoa. Now, can the Commanders' offense move 94 yards downfield and score with a little more than five minutes left before halftime?
11:07 a.m.
We're back from halftime, and the Commanders did manage to tie it up with three seconds on the clock. Both sides of the ball have shown improvement, although it still isn't perfect. Either way, the Commanders look more efficient on offense and haven't punted yet. They have a big opportunity here to start the third quarter, as they could take the lead for the first time in a game since Week 6.
11:13 a.m. ET
And the Commanders have a 13-6 lead after a 20-yard touchdown catch-and-run from Deebo Samuel. They started things off with a six-play, 59-yard drive that heavily featured Rodriguez, who continues to run hard and lead the Commanders in rushing yards.
11:22 a.m. ET
The Commanders' defense bent but didn't break once again. They stopped De'Von Achane on third-and-goal from the 2-yard line, and Bobby Wagner dove in front of a pass from Tagovailoa to get the turnover on downs. A tremendous effort from the unit.
11:35 a.m. ET
The Commanders were forced to punt on the drive, but the more important update regards Marcus Mariota, who was looked at by trainers and didn't finish the drive. For context, he has to miss at least one play since he was examined by the medical team. He was on the sideline with his helmet on, so he could be back on the next series.
11:38 a.m. ET
Update: Mariota is being evaluated for a concussion.
11:49 a.m. ET
We have a tied game once again. Ollie Gordon ran it in from two yards out to cap off a 10-play, 53-yard drive. The good news: Mariota is back in the game after clearing concussion protocol.
11:58 a.m. ET
Sam Cosmi is getting looked at by trainers, so we'll use this time to update you on where the Commanders are at. Washington has moved to the 2-yard line, thanks in large part to a 44-yard run from Mariota. It's third-and-goal with 6:52 p.m. on the clock.
12:03 p.m. ET
The Dolphins take over on downs. The Commanders stayed on the field for fourth-and-goal, but Mariota couldn't connect with Zach Ertz in the end zone. Washington needs a huge stop from the defense.
12:10 p.m.
After momentum swung in Washington's favor. It immediately went back to the Dolphins. With Jaylin Lane out, Mike Sainristil muffs the punt after a third down stop. It was recovered by the Dolphins at the Commanders' 42-yard line with four minutes left to play.
12:19 p.m. ET
The Commanders are in a tough spot with two minutes left to go. They're backed up at their own 1-yard line with two minutes left to play and the Dolphins in control of momentum. If the Commanders manage to get a stop, the Dolphins can take another 40 seconds off the clock.
12:23 p.m. ET
Huge stop by the Commanders on fourth down. The score is tied with 1:41 left to play.
12:34 p.m. ET
We have free football in Madrid. Gay's 56-yard field goal was wide right, and the Dolphins ran out the remaining time on the clock to force overtime. Miami won the toss and elected to kick. Washington is starting things on offense.
12:40 p.m. ET
Mariota was picked off on the opening play of the quarter. The Dolphins are now in field goal range.
