The Washington Commanders are set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals tonight at 8 p.m. at Northwest Stadium. Here are three players to watch during the matchup.

Trey Amos

Amos has been one of the stars from Washington's training camp all summer. He's fared well against the team's best receivers like Deebo Samuel as well as opponents like New England Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs because of his physicality at the line of scrimmage and ability to keep up with pass-catchers in man coverage. He can disrupt the timing between the quarterback and receiver and use his length to bat away passes, like he did on a would-be catch by K.J. Osborn during the Commanders' intrasquad scrimmage.

Amos will face his toughest test with Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase coming to Northwest Stadium. The Bengals' attempts at getting the duo more reps in the preseason paid off during their previous matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, as Burrow and Chase connected on four passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Chase played as expected in the game, scoring a 36-yard touchdown against cornerback Kelee Ringo and hauling in an acrobatic 23-yard reception in the first quarter.

Chase will be the toughest challenge Amos will have seen up to this point in training camp, and with both teams playing their starters, the two are expected to see a lot of each other. It's another opportunity for Amos to show why the Commanders considered taking him with their first-round pick.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt

The seventh-round pick has continued to garner attention throughout camp because of his quickness, vision and ability to break tackles. Croskey-Merritt has become a fan favorite in recent weeks, and they should expect to see plenty of him against the Bengals.

Croskey-Merritt's stats -- 32 yards on eight touches -- might not stand out on the box score from Washington's first preseason game, but the way in which he got those yards stood out to the coaching staff. His first carry of the day, which resulted in no gain, doesn't show that he saved what would have been a tackle for loss by breaking multiple tackles on his way to the line of scrimmage. One of his best runs came later in the first quarter, when he cut behind a block by Josh Conerly Jr. and slammed through would-be tacklers for a nine-yard gain.

Twenty-two of Croskey-Merritt's 24 rushing yards came after contact, and while he didn't have any explosive runs against the Patriots, he's shown he is capable of ripping one off in practice. Despite them being cautious about a shoulder injury earlier in the week, the Commanders are confident he will be ready to go tonight.

Ja'Corey Brooks

While most of the Commanders' wide receiver room is set, there remains one spot open -- assuming they keep six players at the position -- that no one has truly taken a hold of. Brooks is one of the players in consideration for the job, and he should have opportunities to get a firmer hold against the Bengals.

Brooks, an undrafted free agent from Louisville, has made some impressive catches in practice, including a one-handed touchdown in joint practice with the Patriots that drew some praise from Jayden Daniels. Brooks has been getting extra reps with quarterback Josh Johnson after practice to work on getting out of breaks and creating separation at the line of scrimmage. He also led the team with five catches for 59 yards against the Patriots, including a 16-yard gain.

Brooks still faces a long road toward making the roster. He has several experienced veterans ahead of him, and he must continue to improve on special teams. He's had a few focus drops in practice and hasn't stood out as much while working against the starting unit. He will need to improve those issues against the Bengals to show he is worthy of a roster spot. It wouldn't hurt to make some standout plays, either.
