The Washington Commanders are traveling to Metlife Stadium for a Week 15 rematch with the New York Giants. Here are some quick hits about their opponent.

**Overview

**Week 14: BYE (Week 13: Lost to Patriots, 33-15)

  • The Giants have lost seven straight games, their last win coming back in Week 6 over the Eagles.
  • This is the eighth time in the last nine seasons the Giants have reached double digits in losses.
  • Brian Daboll was fired after a 2-8 start, but the Giants are 0-3 under interim coach Mike Kafka.
  • This is the first season the Giants have made an in-season coaching change since the 2017 season (Ben McAdoo, Steve Spagnuolo). They finished 3-13 that season.
  • The Giants will need to win two of their final four games to avoid a second straight season with three or fewer wins.
  • In the history of their franchise, the Giants have won three or fewer games in consecutive seasons once – 1973-74 (won two games each season).
  • The Giants are coming off a 3-14 season in 2024. It was the most losses ever in a season for the Giants.
  • The Giants need to win two of their final four games to avoid matching (or possibly surpassing) that 14-loss total.
  • The Giants will play three of their final four games at home, and both of their victories have come at home.
  • Since starting the 2022 season with a 7-2 record, the Giants have won just 13 of their last 55 regular season games (13-41-1).
  • This will be the 186th regular season meeting between these two teams. The Giants lead the all-time series, 107-73-5, with 107 wins the most for the Giants vs any opponent.

**Offense

*Season Averages: Rushing (123.5 YPG); Passing (216.6 YPG), Total (340.1 YPG), Scoring (21.5 PPG) *Season Rankings: Rushing (13th), Passing (15th), Total (14th), Scoring (23rd)**

  • Despite the poor record, the Giants are on pace to finish with their highest ranking in total yards since 2015, when they were 8th in total yards.
  • Week 13 was the first time since Week 6 that the Giants were held under 20 points (lost 33-15 to Patriots).
  • The Giants were held to just two field goals when these teams met in Week 1. Only twice in the history of this rivalry have the Giants been held without a touchdown in consecutive games vs. Washington – 1936-37, and 1939.
  • The last time the Giants were held under 10 points in consecutive games vs. Washington was 2000.
  • The 15 points in Week 13's loss to the Patriots snapped a seven-game streak in which the Giants scored 20 or more points.
  • The Giants are 0-7 this season when scoring 20 or fewer points.
  • New York's season-low in points came in the season opener vs. Washington (6 points).
  • Although the Giants' season low in total yards in a game came vs. Washington in Week 1 (231), and despite gaining just 239 yards in their most recent game (Week 13 vs. New England), they also have two games with 500 total yards, although both games went into OT (506 in Week 2 vs. Dallas, 517 in Week 12 vs. Detroit).
  • This is tied for the most 500-yard games the Giants have ever had in a single season (also did this in 2015, 2014, 2012, 1967 and 1950).
  • The Giants have never had three games with 500-plus yards in a single season.
  • Rookie QB Jaxson Dart has been the starter for both of New York's wins this season. While his 94.1 passer rating is just 14th in the NFL, it still ranks higher than notable quarterbacks such as…Joe Burrow (93.0), Justin Herbert (92.7), Patrick Mahomes (91.2), Baker Mayfield (90.6)
  • Dart's 63.6% completion percentage is also higher than notable quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson (63.4%), Bo Nix (63.2%), Patrick Mahomes (63.1%), Baker Mayfield (61.6%), and Trevor Lawrence (59.5%).
  • One of the two games in which the Giants failed to rush for 100 yards came against the Commanders in Week 1 (74).
  • RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., who lost his starting role to rookie Cam Skattebo suffered a season-ending ankle injury, leads the team in rushing with 434 yards. Last season in Week 9 vs. the Commanders, Tracy finished with 66 yards on 16 carries. It was his fourth-highest rushing total in a game last season, topped only by his three games with 100+ rushing yards.
  • In Week 1 vs. Washington, Tracy finished with 10 carries for only 24 yards.
  • The last time the Giants played at home (Week 11 vs. Green Bay), Tracy had a season-high 88 yds
  • WR Wan'Dale Robinson leads the Giants with a career-high 828 yards. 2 of his 3 career 100-yards games have come this season, including a career-high 156 receiving yards in Week 12 at Detroit.

**Defense

*Season Averages: Rushing (154.2 YPG); Passing (231.5 YPG), Total (385.8 YPG); Scoring (28.2 PPG) *Season Rankings: Rushing (31st), Passing (24th), Total (31st), Scoring (30th)**

  • New York enters this week in the bottom 3 of the league in both total yards allowed (31st) and points allowed (30th).
  • The last time the Giants finished in the bottom 3 in both categories was 2015, Tom Coughlin's final season with the Giants (30th in scoring defense; last in total defense).
  • The Giants finished have finished outside the top 20 in both scoring defense and total defense in three of the previous four seasons, and are on pace to do it again this season.
  • New York is 0-11 this season when allowing 20 or more points, and over the last two seasons it is just 1-20 in games in which it allows 20 or more points.
  • Since the start of 2019, the Giants are 8-65 when allowing more than 20 points in a game.
  • The Giants last game (Week 13 vs. Patriots) saw them allow 119 rushing yards, their fewest allowed in a game since Week 6 vs. the Eagles (season-low 73 rush yards).
  • No team allows more yards per rush than the Giants (5.8). And the 17 rush touchdowns they have allowed is tied for 27th (just two shy of league worst – Buffalo).
  • The Giants allowed 220 rush yards and 6.9 yards per carry in Week 1 vs. the Commanders.
  • Week 1 was one of just two games this season the Giants allowed 200 or more yards both rushing and passing (Washington had 212 passing yards). The other game came in Week 12 vs. Detroit.
  • The Giants are tied with the Commanders for the second-fewest takeaways in the NFL (each with 7), just ahead of the Jets (2 takeaways).
  • Consider this when discussing the Giants defense and takeaways. In 2023, they finished tied with Baltimore for the most takeaways with 31 in 17 games.
  • In the two seasons combined since 2023, the Giants have just 22 takeaways in 30 games.
  • Last season was the first time since the Commanders franchise moved to Washington that the Giants did not have at least one takeaway in a season series vs. Washington. And they did not have a takeaway in Week 1 vs. Commanders.
