Overview
Week 9: Lost to Vikings (27-24)
- Since starting the season 4-1, Detroit has lost two of its last three games. The Lions' three losses this season are one more than they had all of last season (15-2 record).
- Sunday will be the first of three straight games vs. NFC East opponents. Next week, the Lions visit Philadelphia, and on Nov. 23 they host the Giants.
- Four of the Lions' next five games are against NFC East opponents (Week 14 vs. Dallas)
- Although they are 5-3, this is the Lions' worst record through eight games since 2022 (started 2-6).
- Detroit is 4-1 this season vs. opponents outside its own NFC North Division.
- The Lions enjoyed their best regular season in franchise history last season, finishing 15-2.
- Prior to last season, they had never won more than 12 games in a season (1991, 2023).
- Since the start of the 2023 season, the Lions are 32-10 over the last two seasons (.762 win percentage)
- Detroit needs four wins in its final nine games to finish with a winning record for the fourth straight season. It has been more than a half century since the Lions have had four consecutive winning seasons (1969-1972).
- Head coach Dan Campbell ranks third on the Lions' coaching list for win percentage at .586 (minimum: 25 games coached).

- If the Lions can reach the playoffs this season, Dan Campbell will become only the third coach in Lions history to go to the playoffs in three consecutive seasons. The first two are Buddy Parker (1952-54) and Wayne Fontes (1993-95).

- After leading the NFL in scoring last season (1st time since 1954), the Lions are 2nd in the league in scoring so far this season.
- Detroit is trying to finish in the top 5 of the league in scoring offense for the fourth straight season. The last time the Lions finished top 5 in scoring for this many seasons in a row was a five season stretch from 1950-54.
- Keep in mind, the NFL never had more than 13 teams in those seasons (12 teams from 1951-54).
- Along with trying to finish in the top 5 in scoring four a fourth consecutive season, the Lions are trying to finish in the top 10 in total yards for a fourth straight season (currently 11th entering Week 10).
- Detroit hasn't finished top 10 in total yards in four straight seasons since a six-season stretch from 1959-1964.
- The Lions are coming off a loss at home to the Vikings in a game in which Detroit finished with just 305 total yards, the second time in the last three weeks Detroit has finished with fewer than 310 total yards (Had 297 in Week 6 loss at Kansas City).

- Last week was the fourth time in eight games Detroit held an opponent under 300 yards, yet the Lions are just 2-2 in those games, with losses to the Vikings and Packers).
- Detroit lost despite allowing just 258 total yards. It was the fewest yards allowing in a losing effort since Week 2 of last season, when it allowed just 216 yards in a loss to the Buccaneers.
- Although it entered this season having finished in the bottom half of the league in yards allowed for six straight seasons, Detroit comes into Week 10 in the top 10 in yards allowed (8th).
- The last time the Lions finished in the top 10 in yards allowed 2018 (10th), and the last time they finished higher than 8th was 2014 (2nd).
- The Lions rank 13th in opponent 3rd-down conversions (37.1%), but over their last five games they've held opponents to a 30.2% 3rd-down conversion rate.
