Jahan Dotson

The Washington Commanders selected wide receiver Jahan Dotson in the first round (No. 16 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. (Washington Traded their No. 11 overall pick to New Orleans Saints for picks 16,98,120).

Dotson is the 503rd selection made by Washington in the Common Draft era (since 1967) and the 65th first round selection made by the team since the institution of the draft in 1936.

Dotson is the 24th Penn State product selected by Washington and the fourth selected in the first round.

Dotson is the 61st wide receiver selected by Washington and the seventh wide receiver selected by Washington in the first round.

Dotson (5-11, 184) played in 42 games with 38 starts at Pennsylvania State University from 2018-21 and recorded 183 receptions for 2757 yards and 25 touchdowns. He additionally had eight carries for 18 yards and a touchdown. He ended his career as Penn State's all-time leader in punt return average (17.8) along with being tied for second all-time in career receptions and receiving touchdowns, and fourth in receiving yards.

In 2018, Dotson appeared in eight games, including four starts. He was one of 16 true freshmen to make their collegiate debut recording 13 receptions for 203 yards.

As a sophomore, Dotson started all 13 games at wide receiver, was third on the team in receptions (27), yardage (488) and touchdowns (5). He returned two punts for 39 yards (19.5 average) with a long return of 30 yards and ranked No. 5 in the Big Ten and No. 34 in the nation in yards per reception (18.07).

In 2020, he made nine starts recording 52 receptions for 884 yards (17.0 average) with eight touchdowns averaging 98.2 receiving yards per game. He led the Big Ten in receiving yardage (884, 19th nationally), earning an honorable mention All-America honors from Phil Steele, named All-Big Ten third team as a receiver (coaches and media), and selected honorable mention All-Big Ten as a punt returner (coaches and media).
