The Washington Commanders are taking on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday Night Football. Follow this blog for stats, updates and more.

8:17 p.m.

And here we go. The Commanders are starting this one on offense. It will be interesting to see if the Commanders get off to a coveted fast start.

8:19 p.m.

As an aside, it's so good to see Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel on the field together again.

8:20 p.m.

So far, this is the fast start Washington needed. They're moving the ball well and as inside the Chiefs' 20-yard line after a second-and-one conversion by Jacory Croskey-Merritt.

8:20 p.m.

And just like that, the drive is over. Marcus Mariota's pass to Deebo Samuel deflected off the receiver's hands and fell into those a Chiefs defender.

8:26 p.m.

Well, now we're going to see what the Commanders have been working on with the defense this past week. The coaches believe the simplified scheme is going to help the unit play faster

8:28 p.m.

The Chiefs are getting ready for their first fourth-down conversion try of the game after a crazy effort by Jeremy Reaves to knock Patrick Mahomes out of bounds just short of the marker.

8:33 p.m.

And now Marshon Lattimore has his first interception of the season! He was step-for-step with Hollywood Brown and picked the ball off as he was stepping out of bounds. It's Commanders ball again, although they will be without Laremy Tunsil, who was taken to the locker room with a hamstring injury.

8:42 p.m.

It's been a frustrating start for the Commanders' offense. On one hand, they're moving the ball well and seem to have a good plan for the Chiefs' defense. However, both of their two drives have ended scoreless thanks to an interception and turnover on downs.

8:51 p.m.

We have another interception! This time, it's Bobby Wagner with a grab after Mahomes' pass to Travis Kelce deflected off the tight end's hands.

The offense has to execute here.

8:56 p.m.

And another fruitless drive by the Commanders' offense. They were stopped short in field goal range but turned it over on downs on a fourth-and-2. Love the energy the Commanders are playing with, but they have to start getting points on these drives. However, you can't fault the Commanders for going for it. Field goals won't beat the Chiefs.

9:07 p.m.

The Chiefs have found some momentum. They marched down the field and went up 7-0 with a one-yard run by Kareem Hunt. It's time for the Commanders to generate a response, and it's even more important because the Chiefs get the ball to start the third quarter.

9:24 p.m.

Welcome back, Terry! McLaurin manages to keep both feet in on a third-and-10 and gets his first touchdown of the season. The Commanders absolutely needed that drive.

9:42 p.m.

We're about to start the second half, and the Commanders are tied with the Chiefs. 7-7, after a wild two quarters. Some initial thoughts: the Commanders played with an energy they haven't really put forth at a consistent level all season. Now, they have to maintain it and finish. That's going to be a challenge against the Chiefs, but they've shown they can at least hold their own.

9:55 p.m.

The Chiefs have the lead again after an eight-play, 80-yard drive. Hunt got his second score of the night, but the truly brutal moment came three plays into the drive. Quan Martin was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty that eliminated what would have been a third-and-10. And now the Commanders need to put together a response.

10:03 p.m.

That was a tough series for the Commanders. Jaylin Lane muffed the kickoff, which forced Washington to start at their own 1-yard line. They managed to get some breathing room on a pass to McLaurin, but Lane couldn't haul in a reception on third-and-5. The pressure is now on the defense to force a punt, which hasn't happened yet.

10:11 p.m.

The Chiefs are now up by two scores following a touchdown catch by Travis Kelce, putting the Commanders in a tough spots. They don't really need to change their game plan, but there really is no margin for error anymore. There's no other way to say it; they cannot have another fruitless drive and give the Chiefs the chance to go up three scores.

10:22 p.m.

Another tough drive by the Commanders. A wild catch by Terry McLaurin moved the offense to the Chiefs' 37-yard line, but Mariota was sacked on third-and-10 that moved them out of field goal range. The Chiefs are now at their own 5-yard line and looking to put the game away.

10:38 p.m.

Another touchdown from the Chiefs. Rashee Rice gets in the end zone on an 18-yard catch-and-run. It's 28-7 in the Chiefs' favor.

11:09 p.m.

That'll do it from Kansas City. The Commanders drop their third straight, 28-7, to the Chiefs. Check out Commanders.com for a full recap later in the night.
