Logan Paulsen's top 10 cornerback draft prospects

The opinions expressed in this article do not reflect those of the team.

The Washington Commanders' "Drive to the Draft" podcast has spent the last month ranking each position in the 2026 NFL Draft. Cornerback is a possibility for the team, both with the No. 7 overall pick and later in the draft, and co-hosts Logan Paulsen and Jason Johnson broke down their best players up front.

10. Davison Igbinosun (Ohio State)
"This dude is long; he's tall; he's competitive; and he's physical when he tackles. I thought at the Senior Bowl, this is a guy I'm just going to give the check mark. Some guys really struggled in the one-on-ones at the Senior Bowl, and I think that's an offensive drill. For Igbinosun to go in there and show what he did, and to be as productive as he was at Ohio State, I thought, 'OK, I can live with that.'"

9. Jadon Canady (Oregon)
"This guy was kind of a labor of love, and I'm probably way higher on him than a lot of people. He played safety, nickel and perimeter corner. He's a really fun player to watch. I thought he's kind of the modern iteration of a nickel cornerback. He can play in the box; he's aggressive downhill' and he's got this predatory mentality running to the football."

8. Keith Abney III (Arizona State)
"One of my favorite things is when I see a receiver run a dig and, at the top of the route, the DB undercuts it because he feels it based on the route stem. He did a really nice job with that. I love when DBs are competitive and talking trash. They've got that dog mentality. I love that from him."

7. Avieon Terrell (Clemson)
"Man, this guy's a pretty good football player. He's a little smaller, but he's got really superb footwork. He kind of fits as this perfect slot coverage guy. At the combine he looked awesome in the fieldwork and drills. He's got great ball skills, he attacks the line of scrimmage, he's a good blitzer. He's a perfect nickel."

6. D'Angelo Ponds (Indiana)
"Dude, this was maybe my favorite player to watch in the whole thing. He's an absolute dog, like a junkyard dog. He's in every tackle. If you're a big back running downhill, he's going to throw his body in there, get run over, get up and start talking -- face mask to face mask with you. He takes on offensive linemen. He's instinctive in coverage. I love him. He's one of my favorite DBs that I watched."

5. Brandon Cisse (South Carolina)
"Just his size and strength. I think he's strong; I think he's got good length; and he's pretty physical at the line of scrimmage in press. He's got a great top-end gear. He can really run. He didn't run at the combine, but he's fast. And I think the thing about him is he's pretty good underneath."

4. Chris Johnson (San Diego State)
"I think the guy that gets me the most juice is Chris Johnson, to be honest with you. He's just silky smooth. He's got great feet. Watching him at the combine was excellent, and that translates on the field. He's not afraid to tackle. In a short-yardage situation against Cal, he made tackles for loss on back-to-back plays. I think at the Senior Bowl, his man-to-man reps were very good."

3. Jermond McCoy (Tennessee)
"He's really good in press coverage. I think he knows how to run with receivers and he plays the ball well. He has really smart recognition of routes and concepts. He'll attack the ball downhill, shows good mirroring and really nice speed. He has all the tools to say this is a high floor player."

2. Colton Hood (Tennessee)
"You can tell he's really well coached. When he comes to the line of scrimmage, every time he sets his eyes, he understands route stems at a really high level. He anticipates breaks really well. When you talk about inside releases, he understands the routes you can run off them and he'll undercut stuff as well. I just saw a guy who was like a pro from the mental side of the game. Just a pro."

1. Mansoor Delane (LSU)
"He's incredibly instinctive in underneath zone coverages. He's got really good eyes, and he can bait the quarterback. He has a feel for route concepts, which is great. There are times when teams try to pick him on crossing routes, and he knows how to play across the top and still make plays on the football. The other thing I was really impressed with was the ball skills down the field. I just felt like he was the most consistent."
